Teacher Conservation Institute: Green Jobs, Exploring Forest Careers

The Teacher Conservation Institute (TCI) is a series of multi-day professional development workshops for educators focusing on the scientific stewardship of our natural resources. The courses are designed to showcase the environmental, social, and economic benefits provided by our Texas forests while equipping teachers with resources to implement TEKS-correlated forestry education in the classroom.

The Texas Forestry Association invites you to join us on a fun two-day outdoor professional development forestry experience for middle school and high school teachers. Teachers will receive 16 hours of CPE and TEEAC credit as they become certified in Project Learning Trees' new Green Jobs curriculum, which is TEKS aligned and STEM correlated. They will explore a tree farm, logging operation, and forest products manufacturing facility as they learn about Texas working forests and STEM forestry careers.

Dates: June 22nd & 23rd, 2022

Cost: $15 (lunches included)

Location: Rogers Lumber Company, 8120 Old Hwy 90, Orange, TX 77630

Special Instructions: Lunch will be provided both days, portions of this workshop will be outside in a forest on uneven terrain. Some portions of a tour will include walking up and down stairs. The tours in the workshop are not handicap accessible.
